A New Chapter in Wigtown Comfort

What you get to enjoy

Whether you’re planning a reading, fishing, biking or hiking weekend, a family trip, or a few days of stillness and sea air, Wigtown House is a place to slow down and feel at home

Space to Rest, Room to Dream
Wigtown House comfortably sleeps up to 18 guests across six beautifully styled bedrooms, each with its own unique character.

Built in 1805, Wigtown House carries over two centuries of stories within its Georgian walls. Once a proud family home, then the town bank, it now invites guests to step into history while enjoying the comfort of a warm, modern welcome—right at the heart of Scotland’s beloved Book Town.

Overlooking the lush greenery of Wigtown Bay, freshly renovated and thoughtfully modernised, our historic house has been reimagined as a stylish self-catering retreat — perfect for relaxing getaways, literary escapes, or scenic adventures. Discover the character of the original building with all the ease of a boutique Airbnb stay.

Step in, slow down, and settle into something special.

Wigtown House sits quietly above the bay, just a short stroll from the shelves and cafés of Scotland’s Book Town. Inside, the old Georgian rooms have been carefully reworked – spacious, comfortable, and full of character.
Stunning original features meet modern touches, with bay windows, open fires, and room enough for groups to gather or guests to find their own corner.

Bayview Nursery Garden Centre – A Hidden Gem on the Grounds
Within the grounds of Wigtown House Hotel, you’ll find a working garden centre—quiet and full of seasonal colour.

It adds a touch of life to the estate and offers guests the chance to wander through plants, pots, and garden treasures.

While it’s open to the public during the day, it’s tucked neatly away and adds to the charm of Wigtown House.
